Both teams only scoring 38 points in the 1st half you could say both teams got off to a slow start. Elton Brand was just a monster under the boards with 16. Whenever of GM's players tried to go into the paint all they would see was Marion, Brand and Camby who led the charge with 4 blocks and the rest of them with 3 blocks which totaled 10 blocks between all three of them. The GM's team got out rebounded 39-26 difference of 13 boards so that was really the difference in the game. The Game's team owned the paint.
I met up with Dirk Nowistki after the game and he was very dissapointed after the poor loss to a west rival."We just couldn't get anything going tonight. Hopefully we regroup for the next game and start to put some shot in including me." The GM's team shot a horrible 30% from the field and a disgusting 13% from beyond the arc. One bright for The GM's team is they went to the free throw line 20 times and sank all 20 of them.
I also caught up with head coach Michael Gray of GM's team."We have to play DEFENSE to win games!! Its not the f**king difficult. I don't give a s**t if we shot 30% from the field your not going to win any games if you don't play any defense." The Game's team coached by Stephen Gray shot 50% from the field and 35% from beyond the arc.
I got a brief comment from Coach Stephen Gray as he was getting on the team bus."We play to win the game." Whatever the hell that means your guess is as good as mine.
