My vote goes to : Chris Paul. I've been pretty good at calling these in the past. Look at Paul (tops in steals, 2nd only behind Nash in assists and 20+ ppg. similar to Nash's Mvp seasons ,and finally leading his club to 1st in the ultra tough Western Conference! He has West (an All-Star) and Chandler ,but still stands out by looking at his #'s alone.
H.M. to D.Howard and Lebron who are having MVP. type first half to the seasons. Nash and Kobe are in second tier I feel.
Wade,A.Jefferson,Kaman and a couple others could be mentioned here, but look at their team records (beyond weak).

Yeah I have to agree with you here Paul has been a beast thus far and if Nash won two MVP awards in a row for doing similar to what Paul is doing now then I think that eh would have to be pretty close to a lock to take it this year...

Jose Calderon. Nah...I'll go with Paul, LeBron is quite close in my mind, though.

Not to push my own player here, but I do think Paul is the one. The Suns success is nothing new, and Amare does a lot for that team to help Nash out. Howard has made huge strides, but I don't think his numbers quite tell why the Magic are doing so well. Iverson and Melo feed off of each other so neither can really be considered an MVP candidate I don't think
Lebron might be the BEST player, especially by the numbers, but the role players in Cleveland have all been doing their jobs, they're just not good enough so the team isn't ever going to be that good with the pieces they have.
The Hornets went from under .500 to first in the best conference in the NBA with the same pieces, because of Paul's dominance this year

Don't underestimate West's contribution ,but still feel Paul is worthy (right now anyways).

Don't underestimate West's contribution ,but still feel Paul is worthy (right now anyways). West was there last year, putting up nearly identical numbers. Ditto with Chandler. That's my point, the Hornets have basically the same pieces, and Pauls development brought them from mediocrity to the level they're at now

Chandler ya his breakout season was more last season. West was an All Star...without West... Paul would not be leading in my mind.

West TWO years ago: 74 games (healthy) 17 pts (only added one), 7.5 rebs (added 1.5)...in actuality, he had a better ft%, fewer TOs, and a better fg% that year. But sure, his ascension to greatness made the hornets good. PS: they went 38-44 that year

Lebron wins hands down. When the second scoring option on your whole team before the allstar break was frickin Larry Hughes and your team still wins....you are the MVP hands down. Kobe and Paul have very good supporting casts to score around them (Gasol, odom, West, Peja) and Lebron has Hughes, Gooden, and Z....basically he is a one man show.
